Kirk Night, named for the Scottish word for church, is St. Andrew’s Wednesday evening program for all ages. Kirk Night begins each week with supper at 5:45 p.m. The cost for the meal is $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children.
After dinner there are programs for all ages.
There are two sessions of Kirk Night each school year. The first runs from the week after school starts in September until the week before Thanksgiving. The second session runs from late January until just before Easter.
Our youth group is designed for students 6th grade and up. We meet on Wednesday nights starting with dinner at 5:45 and concluding our program at 7:30. In addition to the regular sessions of Kirk Night during the school year, we have special activities during the month of December and also participate in our early Christmas Eve service in many ways. Youth help lead worship in various ways throughout the year. During the summer, there are many opportunities to help serve in our community and in other communities for our mission trip. We also meet for fun and fellowship. We love company and encourage youth to bring a friend too!
Music Makers Children’s Choir practice from 6:30-7:00 in the Children’s Music Room. Children from Kindergarten – 5th grade can participate in this child-centered music program. Children are introduced to new songs, musical prayers and instruments that are all combined in Worship to praise God.
A Children’s Art Class is held in the education building’s Art Room (Room 103) from 7:00-7:30 p.m. This fall’s art project will be a Jesse Tree, in which children will make a new ornament each week representing one of Jesus’ ancestors of the faith.
Nursery care is available for infants through 3 year olds. 4 and 5 year olds may attend the nursery if parents are in class or practice. Older children must either be in a class or with their parents during the 6:30-7:30 time period.
What Makes Us Human? The psalmist asks, ‘What are humans that God is mindful of us, and the children of humans that God cares for us? Yet God has made humanity a little less than God and has crowned us with glory and honor.’ On one hand, humans are capable of incredible goodness, compassion, and kindness, while on the other, humans have caused untold damage to the earth and carried out unspeakable horrors on one another. Pastor Gillian will explore the question of what it means to be human in light of our faith. This class will be repeated on Zoom each Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. Contact the church office for the Zoom link.
Each Wednesday the Chancel Choir meets from 7:15-8:30 pm for our weekly rehearsal. No audition, no previous experience is necessary – just a willingness to share your talents! Music reading is preferred, but not required. Our Chancel Choir helps to lead worship each Sunday during the program year. Please consider joining us.
